Human greed, irresponsible breeding and lack of resources or education in responsible pet ownership are only a few of the innumerable factors that have contributed to shelters bursting at the seams with unwanted, abandoned, abused, neglected and stray dogs scheduled for euthanasia every day.
At BUTTONNOSES we are passionately committed to saving the lives of senior and special needs tiny dogs who are at risk of losing their homes or their lives.
BUTTONNOSES SAVE A LIFE PROGRAM provides funding for medical procedures and other expenses for the tiny homeless furry angels in our foster / palliative care program.
PetVibe For VHS
The Victoria Humane Society fills a gap in animal welfare services in our region and on Vancouver Island, with a focus on animal rescue, rehabilitation and adoption. We also accept many difficult cases and help these animals get necessary treatments they may need, including emergency medical care, surgeries and other life saving treatments. We believe all animals deserve a second chance at a permanent loving home.
While VHS has the goal of establishing its own shelter in the near future, we currently do not operate a shelter, and instead, rely exclusively on a network of foster homes to care for our animals as they await applications into their permanent homes.
4 The Fallen
4 the Fallen is a 100% volunteer, direct impact non-profit organization in support of our country's wounded military service members through our Prosthetic Program, Service Dog Program as well as Celebratory Ceremonies.
Our service dog program is dedicated to providing service trained canines to heroes suffering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The goal of the Service Dog Program is to empower our heroes to return to an independent and high quality lifestyle.
In partnership with the Patriot Service Dog Foundation, 4 The Fallen assists our heroes with PTSD in receiving trained and certified service dogs at no cost to the heroes.
Foster Army strives to SAVE THEM ALL by rescuing the most vulnerable, at-risk, misfit pets at the shelter and finding them Forever Homes.
A key requirement is raising funds to support medical/behavioral treatment, vaccinations, microchips, food, supplies, and spay/neuter surgeries.
Patriotic Service Dog Foundation
Today, an estimated 460,000 veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan war alone, struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These conditions can lead to sleeplessness, depression, anger, anxiety and isolation. While these feelings can be overwhelmingly difficult, they are treatable, but so many continue to suffer in silence. Each day, in the world’s greatest nation, 22 of our heroes will take their own lives.
The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation's goal is to reduce that statistic from “22 to Zero”.
Cammies & Canines
The Mission: Helping our homeless veterans transition towards being employable again and living a purpose-driven life by providing sober-living housing, structure and discipline, veteran-to-veteran support, and of course canine companionship. Our mission is two fold with an emphasis on saving veterans as well as rescuing dogs. These two passions work together to fill a void within each other and provide healing at a much needed time.
The mission of Sweet Pawz & Meows Rescue is to find loving forever homes for animals who would otherwise be homeless, neglected, abandoned, abused and/or euthanized at our local shelters. Our role in the community is to assist residents with much needed help in the areas of low or no cost spay and neuter services, trap-neuter-release services, advise on physical and behavioral health issues and also the importance of micro-chipping. We hope to provide referrals or other assistance as needed to the community i.e. food donations and financial assistance for veterinary services to homes who have difficulty providing for their animals.
We understand and value the powerful connection between people and pets. As we set out to provide a safer, happier life for animals, we realized that in order to do that, we were helping people as well. Through a variety of owner support programs, we strive to keep pets in their original homes whenever possible by providing food, veterinary care, training assistance, support, and more. We work with low income, Veterans, seniors, the homeless, and children, to provide access to services, find the perfect family, and educate and inspire the next generation to take action. We rely entirely on the support of the community.
